Necessary content creation...

Postby nitinleew on Sun Jun 08, 2008 3:45 pm

Quick question from a boob....errrr....noob: how much content should I have created when I first launch a site? Let's say content for my site contains both text and images.....subject is food/cooking.

I think the more, the better. It is being widely held that search engine bots love content, most especially text content. It follows then that the more content you have, the more likely you will have the chance of having your site immediately crawled by bots. However, if this is no longer possible after site launching, then strive to create more fresh and unique content on your site over time.

You can start with a little content, as long as it is not duplicate content. But you need to build more content each day - fresh, unique content - because that's what your site visitors want and that's what search engine bots love to crawl. I'm talking about text content. If you use images, don't forget to maximize the use of alt tags.

If I'm working with a new blog I like to post one article a day for 7 days then no less than 3 articles a week. Search engines also watch the frequency of your content addition. Any site that stops putting up new content gets dinged.

There is no stipulated amount, it all matters how good you can manage your new website. It took lot of time for me to own a website, i studied all possibilities before i launched one.

Content management, or CM, is a set of processes and technologies that support the evolutionary life cycle of digital information. This digital information is often referred to as content or, to be precise, digital content. Digital content may take the form of text, such as documents, multimedia files, such as audio or video files, or any other file type which follows a content lifecycle which requires management.
