Are press releases really a good way to conduct SEO on a certain website? It is widely claimed all over the internet that press releases give a website good exposure, increase traffic and provide valuable inbound links. What is your personal opinion on this? Do you agree with this assertion?

Press Releases will definitely increase the number of visits of you site since your site is being promoted. It is one of a good SEO technique, link building

Yes, press release is good SEO strategy. But it works with only main stream sites. Where the content is original and useful to public. But it don't work well with blogs. I think article submission is one of the best SEO technique of all time. Just write a good article and then submit them to different site where they accept them like about.com and others. From there you will get regular traffic. and good search engine exposure.
