Google PR toolbar worthless!

I have recently read in Google's webmasters' forum that the Google Pagerank toolbar is actually a worthless piece of information. They say what really matters is a site's position in Google's SERPs. Do you believe this? Do you really believe the Google PR toolbar doesn't have any SEO value?

Well, I dont like google's pr system. They do what they like. The most funny thing is that they give pr 10 only to them. If anybody wnat to make money using selling links in their site, google make pr 0 or less to those sites

lor, I really don't know that Google made this up. That mean, make money using selling links on Google site is against the rule?

Can you please elaborate a bit on this? Do you mean that if, for example, I would advertise on my site that I am selling links in it, Google would readily give my site a pagerank of 0? But that would be pagerank displayed on the Google pagerank toolbar, right?

I understand your point. Google is considered God online. They really can do whatever they want. If you want to make money online through them, then might as well abide by the rules and go with the flow even if it seems unfair sometimes. Well, that's what we call business.

I think Google is doing great on the toolbar. But they need to update it more frequently , so that it will be much user friendly.

I've heard this argument before. PR means nothing according to people, what means anything is your location in the search ranks. Ok, so what do you think Google uses to determine your location in the search results? Granted, looking ONLY at pr is a waste of time. There are other factors involved that must also be looked at but don't discount PR because Google doesn't.

Pagerank is a value determined by Google that is basically calculated from a page's inbound links.

But Pagerank is only one SMALL piece of information Google uses to determine SERPs (where a page displays when a search has been submitted).

So if you want traffic for your site, you want SERPs and basically you should care less about your Pagerank. A high Pagerank doesn't give you good SERPs.
